About The Project
ABOUT Lisa
Dr Lisa is a British historian and writer who loves sharing her passion of history with the public. After being listed as BBC History Extra’s 30 Historians under 30 ‘to watch’, Lisa knew she needed to get a website up and running to build her personal brand in a professional way for future collaborations, and display her recent publications and media features.
PROJECT GOALS
Create a personal brand website to act as a portfolio of Lisa’s publications & media features
To promote her research in an engaging way and have a place for people to contact her for future collaborations or media appearances
To create a website that feels calming, neutral and minimalist, but without being boring! I created a ‘fresh’, bright moodboard to reflect Lisa’s fresh approach to making history accessible and her love of blues!

How I applied my signature ‘3S’ Approach’
STRATEGY
With a few different target audiences, it was important to consider the customer journey of each one and making sure everyone coming to the website could easily find what they need, plus making sure that the website was keyword optimised to help Lisa show up on search engines when people are looking for her specific specialism in history.
STYLE
Lisa wanted a clean and calming website that didn’t feel too overwhelming, but it was important it didn’t feel too boring, plain or stuffy. Inspired by her love of blues and nature, I opted for some sandy off-whites and zingy blues to bring a freshness to the website, making it stand out and feel fun rather than flat.
SIMPLICITY
Each page has plenty of breathing space around each element, and the use of the simple, off-white background gives a calm, yet warm feel. It’s easy to navigate around without feeling overwhelmed by content, while still keeping them engaged with fun, moving elements. It’s all about balance!

As someone who lives by the sea and loves beachy vibes, I’ve loved working with this colour palette for it’s freshness!
Lisa now has a place to easily update and store her research work and media features, that she can be proud to share as a personal brand.
